Inter-Nordic Migration Form

INTER-NORDIC MIGRATION FORM

The Nordic population register convention means that the Nordic countries form one registration area. When moving from one country to another, the local population register authorities send notice to each other. The migrant must notify the authorities in both the country of departure and arrival. Remember to inform the authorities whether the migration is temporary or permanent.

A Notice of Moving is made in the country of departure with the Inter-Nordic Migration Form. The form can be obtained from the Local Register Office in Finland, in Sweden from the local tax authorities and in Norway from the population register office. By using the Inter-Nordic Migration Form you also notify the authorities of the country you are moving to.

Finland

The Inter-Nordic Migration Form must be delivered to the Local Register Office within 7 days of moving. The Social Insurance Institution (KELA) will issue a social insurance card. A foreigner may receive a Finnish social security number if the stay in Finland lasts minimum a year.

Sweden

When moving to Sweden the Inter-Nordic Migration Form must be delivered to the local tax authority office within 14 days of moving. The civil register will issue a Swedish social security number.

Norway

When moving to Norway permanently the Inter-Nordic Migration Form must be delivered to the local population register office within 8 days of arrival. The population register office will then issue a Norwegian social security number.
