Crossborder Tornedalen

General information on the Cross-border Tornedalen partnership

The 21 cross-border projects and offices of which Cross-border Tornedalen is the 20th are all part of the EURES (European Employment Services) network, a subordinate body of the DGV, the department of Employment and Social affairs of the European Union. The project, which is coordinated by Marja Ketola, was started in the beginning of the year 2000.

The Cross-border projects are cross-border area labour market partnerships of which labour market parties and the public employment services are joint partners.

In addition, other parties relevant for the regional labour market functionality, such as municipalities, are able to participate. A partnership project is officialised by signing the master agreement in which the goals and the length of the project are defined. A total of 20 cross-border organisations have signed the Cross-border Tornedalen
master agreement.

A development scheme is compiled to define the long term (3 years) goals. It then serves as the foundation for the annual activity plans and corresponding budgets, which are sent to the European Commission for approval. A financial year is defined as beginning on 1st April and ending on March 31. During the financial year an interim report and an
annual report are produced.
